In this house we believe...
Countering the stupidity
We’ve all seen them, the mind-blowingingly stupid yard signs that, during the Trump presidency, appeared as “counter-actions” - i.e., virtue-signals - reflecting the “values” of weirdos, Trump Deranged.
Beginning with “In this house we believe,” they project, these signs, things so goofy that they might as well say: We Are Clownish Imbeciles.
To erect the sign, to place it in soil, is to publicly showcase: 1) complete detachment from reality; 2) psychic turmoil steeped in bitterness; and 3) a level of ignorance/stupidity of which only clinical narcissists are capable.
And, obviously, because they REMAIN up, because they haven’t been taken down, the people behind them are kooks... Yes, I still see them (shrines to rage) projecting bile, and whenever I do, I can’t help but wonder who thought it a swell idea - who still thinks it clever - to project anger on passers-by… To wit:
Black Lives Matter (sign-erector: Caucasian)
Science is real
No human is illegal
Women’s rights are human rights
Love is love
Diversity is strength
There are variations, of course, but you get the idea. Each line has a different color, creating a “rainbow” oozing with sanctimony, smugness, and strife. It’s an exercise in mind-meld, group-think congratulation. These people believe they’re “making a difference,” “being the change they want to see in the world,” when, in reality, they’re publicly hyperventilating, demeaning humanity, and trashing the ‘hood.
That said, it’s fun to counter-protest, to rebut these ninnies. Thus, I made a rational, logical alternative… In this house we believe:
Black Lives Matter is a Marxist terror organization
Everyone has a right to own - and SHOULD own - an AR-15
Abortion is evil and anti-science
If you illegally cross the border, you are a criminal and should be micro-chipped, deported, and monitored for life
Love is cheese
Pretty good. Covers ground. And I can’t think of a better way to send emotionally labile Democrats into tailspins. Still, others have pleasant takes, and I particularly enjoyed this gem from Iowa: In this house we believe:
Biden stole the election
Fauci is China-owned
Bill Gates is not a doctor
Hillary belongs in prison
Epstein didn’t kill himself
Media is PROPAGANDA
Rational… Logical… Pithy.
Yes… But we don’t see such signs (they’re rare), because we aren’t motivated by anger—the fuel of liberal rage… I mean these people are REALLY angry. Mention Donald Trump and their face reddens, their blood pressure spikes, and spittle blasts from their agape mouth and nostrils. Incapable of clear thought, they project psychobabble, because, collectively, it helps them cope—anger as virtue, feigned “intelligence,” is the point.
But when I pass the signs, I realize they’re adrift. I feel contempt, but also a little sad, because what moves them is irredeemable. These people are dense, gullible, and degraded.
And they’re PROUD to point this out… They believe their lies. And that isn’t merely a danger to others, it’s a stain on humanity.
And an insult to us all.
