Democrats, DEI, and DISASTER in California...
The "perfect storm" of incompetency and degraded values.
“When you orient every level of government around social agendas, political agendas, racial and gender agendas - everything but merit and performance - it will always end in catastrophe.”

On many levels - human, political, and personal - the fires in California are, to borrow from Hollywood, the “perfect storm” come to life—a storm of incompetence, misplaced priorities, and the effect of politicians avoiding the consequence of corruption.
And, no, it isn’t “too soon” to place blame, because circumstances point to policy, disastrous moves, resulting in apocalyptic damage and harm. What must happen, how much pain, before those effected - 100% of So Cal residents - stop voting for more abuse?
Insanity — Doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.
That, friends, is what we’re seeing. It’s what the following shows:
1) In 2014, California voters passed a $7.5 billion (with a B) bond measure to fund H20 infrastructure projects, including $2.7 billion for permanent water storage. But as of yesterday, the number of water projects (reservoirs) completed stands at: ZERO…
They’re still studying the “environmental impact”… No, that is not a joke.
2) In the fire areas - Malibu, Altadena, and Pacific Palisades - firemen…. err, women… reported non-functioning hydrants - i.e., NO WATER - and if water was available, there was little pressure behind it.
And why would that be? … Well again: reservoirs. Not only have officials failed to add capacity, present water containment has been minimized, with politicians mandating the release of snowmelt (rain, too) on behalf of a tiny fingerling fish.
3) Under Gavin Newsom, Democrats, citing (you can’t make this up) “environmental safety,” have banned fire mitigation efforts - the clearance of brush and controlled burns - throughout Los Angeles, setting the conditions for cataclysmic fire to overwhelm populated (and heavily vegetated) areas.
4) Meanwhile, Californians have the highest income tax in the nation. The highest gas tax. And apparently the highest tolerance for charade. The brain reels… Since 2021, California has allocated $18 BILLION to fight “homelessness,” the result a steady INCREASE in homelessness. Meanwhile, L.A. City, allocating $7 BILLION, while concentrating on “inclusion,” cut $18 MILLION from the F.D. budget, leading to too few firemen to fight fires.
5) Wait, did I say men? Oops… Here’s who runs the Department:
Bravo! ... The person on the left, Chief Kristin Crowley, is a “ceiling shattering” icon, a LESBIAN pioneer, who, from DAY ONE, made “diversity and inclusion” priority—not fighting fire, not readiness/competence, but ending the “patriarchy,” lowering standards, and minimizing the percentage of pesky Caucasian dudes.
The result? … Disaster… Responsible men and women would’ve allocated resources, minimizing cataclysm, but Dems, themselves, are a kind of cataclysm—the perfect storm of ineptitude and buffoonery, venal values and moral blight.
But, again, you get what you ask and vote for… And until their votes change, Californians will suffer, unwilling to weigh the political costs.

California has the HIGHEST TAXES in the nation. They NEVER cut spending… Oh wait — Karen Bass cut $18 MILLION from the @LAFD budget… Meanwhile, L.A. allocated $7 BILLION to "decrease homelessness." Result: MORE Homelessness. Result: MASSIVE tragedy due to inability to fight fires. https://greghalvorson.substack.com/p/democrats-dei-and-disaster-in-california
